Fabricated aluminium header tank (expansion reservoir) for Land Rover Defender, Discovery 1, and Range Rover Classic with 200TDi, 300TDi, or V8 engines. Replaces the original plastic item which is prone to splitting along the seam from heat cycling. Uses the original mounts and hose connections.

The Original Tank Splits
Land Rover fitted a plastic header tank to the 200TDi, 300TDi, and V8 engines. With age, these tanks split along the seam from heat cycling. It's a known failure point on vehicles of this age. When it goes, coolant leaks and you're left with a problem that could have been sorted cheaply beforehand.
Aluminium Doesn't Split
This tank is fabricated from aluminium and won't develop the seam splits that the original plastic unit does over time. It uses the same mounting points and hose connections as the original so there's nothing complicated about fitting it. If your original tank has already split, or you want to replace it before it does, this is the straightforward fix.
